Today, a series of Huawei Mate 10 smartphones have been introduced in Munich, which opens the door to new AI mobile applications. Huawei Mate 10, Huawei Mate 10 Pro and Porsche Design. The Huawei Mate 10 are devices through which artificial intelligence has penetrated smartphones, combining innovative hardware, the Kirin 970 chipset and EMUI 8.0. This time the Huawei Mate 10 series continues its inheritance of superior product and durable battery, while simultaneously integrating the new Leica dual camera technology.
“As we enter the age of intelligence, AI is no longer a virtual concept but something that intertwines with our daily life. AI can enhance user experience, provide valuable services and improve product performance,” said Richard Yu, CEO, Huawei Consumer Business Group. “The HUAWEI Mate 10 Series introduces the first mobile AI – specific Neural Network Processing Unit, launching a new era of intelligent smartphones,” reports PetaPixel.
Key features include:
New, mobile AI architecture that provides intelligent mobile experience
Huawei Mate 10 and Huawei Mate 10 Pro are the first devices running the new Kirin 970 processor bringing a faster and personalized mobile experience. The new Kirin 970 processor is built with the advanced TSMC 10nm semiconductor production process, and includes the octa-core ARM Cortex CPU, the never before seen Small G72 12-core GPU and the first NPU designed specifically for mobile devices. The Kirin 970 also features a new dual ISP for a photo that runs through artificial intelligence.
Specialized NPU, combined with Huawei's innovative HiAI mobile computing architecture, enables the Kirin 970 processor to achieve 25 times better performance and 50 times more energy efficiency for AI tasks compared to the quad-core Cortex-A73. The Huawei Mate 10 series is also a series that supports super-fast LTE connectivity and data download. The devices come with the first dual 4G SIM support in the world.
Design quality for a new level of sophistication and comfort
Featuring a brand new Huawei FullView screen, the Huawei Mate 10 features a 5.9-inch 16:9 display, a virtually invisible HDR10 frame and a vibrant color, while the 6-inch Huawei Mate 10 Pro features an 18:9 OLED display and HDR10 for dynamic viewing of videos. Both devices have a 3D glass design and are symmetrically rounded on all four sides to ergonomically slip into the palm of your hand. The rear panel of the devices features a reflective design that emphasizes the new dual Leica camera. Additionally, the Mate 10 Pro is resistant to water and dust.
New era of smartphones with dual Leica camera and AI battery
Huawei has re-established cooperation with Leica and made a dual-lens camera for Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro. The cameras combine 12-megapixel monochrome sensors, optical image stabilization (OIS), dual lens with the world's largest aperture of f/1.6, and Bokeh effect and digital zoom that are powered by artificial intelligence. AI lets you shoot real-time scenes and object recognition, so camera settings automatically adjust based on the subject and the background being photographed. The camera also supports advanced AI digital zoom with motion detector for clearer and sharper photos.
Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro are equipped with a 4000 mAh battery that has a Smart Battery Management System. Its main feature is understanding and tracking the user’s habits and smart allocation of resources to maximize battery life. The battery supports a 4.5V / 5A low-power, fast charging, allowing the smartphone to charge from 1% of battery power to 20% in just 10 minutes and from 1% to 58% in 30 minutes. In addition, Huawei SuperCharge is the first fast-charging technology in the world that has received the TÜV Fast-Charge Safety certificate, guaranteeing the safest charging.
Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro will be the first mobile devices with the new EMUI 8.0 interface launched by the Android™ 8.0 system. Features include AI mechanism that fully utilizes the features of the Kirin 970 so that it delivers a faster and more accurate communication experience, a feature that connects the new Mate 10 Series to a larger monitor, and support for a full desktop experience such as mirroring or extending the smartphone’s screen like on a PC.
Huawei also introduced three Huawei Mate 10 accessories - EnVizion 360, SuperCharge™ and Smart Scale.
